The department of Risk Management has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Risk Analyst 3. The Risk Analyst 3 (H) serves as a subject matter expert and project lead for risk management initiatives. This role supervises a team of risk analysts, evaluates organizational vulnerabilities, and advises management on strategic risk mitigation and compliance.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Mentors risk analysts and oversees team projects and workflow.
  • Performs statistical analysis to quantify risk and forecast outcomes.
  • Prepares and presents findings to senior management, recommending solutions to minimize risks.
  • Monitors internal and external risk factors, including regulatory changes.
  • Supports managers in risk management model construction.
  • Implements and maintains risk management information systems.
  • Leads development and administration of risk management programs and policies.
  • Coordinates hospital-wide programs for quality patient care and risk-free services.
  • Liaises with attorneys, insurance companies, and individuals for claims and litigation management.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Department Specific Functions

  • Serves as a senior departmental resource for complex, high-risk, or system-level patient safety events and incident investigations.
  • Leads comprehensive investigations, including advanced medical record analysis, stakeholder interviews, and coordination of multidisciplinary reviews across acute and specialty care settings.
  • Applies advanced knowledge of patient safety science, risk prevention strategies, and best practices within an academic health system environment.
  • Collaborates with executive, senior, and management-level stakeholders to assess risk exposure and support patient protection initiatives.
  • Provides subject matter expertise related to regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and risk prevention expectations.
  • Supports the development, implementation, and evaluation of department-wide risk management processes and improvement initiatives.
  • Assists with development and delivery of continuing education and training related to medical risk prevention and patient safety.
  • Provides guidance, mentoring, and functional oversight to Healthcare Risk Analyst I and II staff.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required
  • Professional certification in healthcare risk management or patient safety (e.g., CPHRM, CPPS) preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required
