Summary

The Sports Performance/Fitness Center Graduate Assistant is responsible for assisting the Sports Performance Coordinator & assistant coaches in running the strength and conditioning programs for all  sports. They are responsible for the development and administration of the strength and conditioning program for assigned sports (2-4 teams).  They will act as liaison between the Sports Performance Interns and the Sports Performance Coordinator when necessary.  They will also help the Director of Fitness Center Manage and Operate the Landon Fitness Center.  

Essential Functions

  • Develop and administration of the strength and conditioning programs for sports assigned to them by the Sports Performance Coordinator.

  • Assist in the administration of assessments, testing and the strength and conditioning programs for 2-4 sports. Knowledge of NCAA rules.

  • Engage in meetings within the unit with hands-on and discussions about various topics within strength and conditioning.

  • Help Manage and Operate the Landon Fitness Center and will be in charge of doing the weekly schedule for supervisors and work study students.

  • Develop strategies to grow student and employee engagement within the fitness center. 

  • Competitions, seminars, annually meet with SGA president for ideas and manage suggestion box.

  • Develop and maintain strategies to manage cleanliness and safety of equipment and fitness center space. 

  • Be the liaison between repair and maintenance companies for new and used equipment.

  • Engage with new members and alumni to promote and sell new memberships. 

  • Develop new business ideas, on-site personal training. 

  • Update music and technology within the fitness center. 

  • Help recruit and hire new Fitness Center Staff including with interview and hiring process.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Must have a valid Driver's License.

  • Must be enrolled as a Barry University graduate student majoring in Human Performance & Wellness.

  • Must be certified through the NSCA with their CSCS or through the CSCCA with their SCCC or studying to get it.
