Summary

The Front Office Medical Receptionist provides high-quality customer service to all patients and visitors entering the medical center. This role performs a wide variety of clerical and administrative tasks using knowledge of medical terminology, clinical procedures, and Electronic Health Records (EHR). The receptionist ensures a smooth, efficient, and positive patient experience from arrival to departure.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provides exceptional customer service by greeting patients and visitors promptly, courteously, and professionally.
  2. Answers telephone calls  courteously, screens inquiries, and routes calls to appropriate staff.
  3. Performs new patient registration, including verifying and entering demographics into the HER
  4. Verifies insurance coverage, addresses, telephone numbers, and other required information to ensure accuracy and proper billing.
  5. Conducts patient check-in and checkout in a timely and accurate manner.
  6. Confirms and schedules patient appointments.
  7. Collects co-payments and self-pay payments.
  8. Documents patient requests, messages, and concerns in accordance with practice procedures.
  9. Receives, scans, routes, and processes incoming documents.
  10. Ensures timely and accurate processing of forms, referrals, medical records requests, and other patient documentation.
  11. Maintains effective patient flow to minimize wait times.
  12. Uses MS Office programs and EHR systems for typing, reporting, and data entry.
  13. Ensures full compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and all clinic policies and procedures.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  2. Prior experience in a healthcare front office, clinical setting, or clerical role preferred.
  3.  Proficiency with MS Office programs required.
  4. Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) preferred.
  5. Bilingual skills preferred (English/Spanish or English/Creole).
