Overall Responsibilities:


  • Individuals in this position are responsible for scheduling and assigning Parking Attendants and Custodial Maintenance Personnel to meet staffing requirements and assuring that all personnel are carrying out their duties and responsibilities. Also responsible for preparing all reports regarding their area of responsibility and performing Parking Attendant duties as needed. Responsible for the overall day-to-day operation of a parking facility.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Ensures the safety, security and proper up-keep of assigned facility by utilizing scheduled inspections, no-notice walk-through inspections and other established procedures.
  • Monitors actions and performances of assigned and contract employees to ensure compliance. Take necessary actions to correct performance and document accordingly.
  • Manages and inspects facility revenue equipment.
  • Schedule and assigns Parking Attendants and Custodial Maintenance to garages and/or lots to meet expected parking demand levels.
  • Trains employees in proper duty procedures and report requirements to update outdated procedures or establish new ones.
  • Assures that the needs of the customer are being met.
  • Reviews of daily reports prepared by personnel assigned to the facility.
  • Coordinates all operational requirements pertaining to a facility (maintenance, security and daily requirements).
  • Prepares daily deposits from monies collected by personnel assigned to the facility. 
  • Ensures the efficient operation of all equipment in garage or lot to which assigned.
  • Monitors and provides inventory levels of Parking Equipment and its necessary supplies/materials needed for the facilities.
  • Prepares annual performance reviews for all employees in assigned facility. 
  • Lend assistance as required and supervises facility personnel.
  • Reviews revenue and trend report to ensure accuracy and to detect possible theft or inappropriate transactions.
  • Ensures proper training of employees.
  • Provides counseling to subordinates.
  • Prepares facility monthly reports.
  • Respond to customer complaints and inquiries. 
  • Monitors facility’s budget and reports shortfall or overages to superiors.
  • Performs duties of Parking Attendants as needed to cover lunch, breaks, etc.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in the accurate use of simple arithmetic.


Ability to:


  • Directs the work of others.
  • Makes change accurately and quickly.
  • Provides routine information in a clear manner.
  • Keeps records and makes reports pertaining to facility revenue and expense performance.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.
  • Operates all equipment utilized by Parking Attendants. (Calculators, cash registers)
  • Lift and move weights of 15 pounds or more.
  • Computer Literate.


Judgment and Decision Making:


  • Restricted scope of duties. Some analysis of facts surrounding individual problems. Refer to supervisor regarding questionable cases.


Responsibility:


  • Loss of cash, equipment, materials and/or process would seldom exceed $3,500.00 per incident.
  • Direction of employees performing the same or related work with responsibility for costs methods of personnel.
  • Inattention or careless operation of equipment may cause lost time injury to self or others in immediate area.
  • Errors may involve losses such as cash shortfalls, improper costs, overpayments, and failure to take discounts, waste of materials, damage or loss of equipment.
  • Work is not continually subject to verification or check, although errors usually remain within the Agency.
  • Regular contacts with subordinates and/or other departments, general public and customers requiring tact, to avoid friction and obtain cooperation.


Manual Skill and Dexterity: 


Job does not require skills and abilities beyond those normally possessed by the average individual.


Physical Effort:


Light physical effort required consisting of:


  • Continuous light lifting or moving of material in a standing position, or
  • Occasionally moderate lifting or moving of material or working part of the time in difficult work positions, or
  • Rarely lifting or moving heavy material, or in each case expending equivalent effort pulling, pushing, carrying or stretching.


Working Conditions:


  • Somewhat unpleasant working conditions. Exposure to any number of elements such as noise, dirt, cold, heat and rain.
