Neuro Anesthesiologist Job Description 

 

TheDepartment of Anesthesiology, PerioperativeMedicine, and Pain Management at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (UMMSOM) is experiencing a period of expansion. The Neuroanesthesia and Perioperative Neurosciences Division provides perioperative care to patients undergoing elective and emergency neurosurgical and neuro-interventional procedures at the University Miami Hospital (560 beds), Jackson Memorial Hospital (1550 beds) and Ryder Trauma Center (treats approximately 5,000 patients annually). The division contributes to the patient’s perioperative journey and provides optimum care with strong multidisciplinary collaboration involving neurosurgery and orthopedic surgical services. World-leading the Christine E. Lynn Rehabilitation Center and the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis programs at UHealth/Jackson Memorial complements our dedication to saving and improving lives worldwide. More than 1000 spine, 1000 neurological,and 300 neuro-interventional procedures are performed annually under our care 

 

Employment Requirements: 

  • Candidates for this position should have completed a US-approved residency in Anesthesiology and a minimum of one year of Neuro-anesthesiology fellowship training or have obtained equivalent training and certification.  

  • Board Eligibility or Certification in Anesthesiology is required for this position. (Equivalence to board certification can be determined on a case-by-case basis). 

  • While research experience is not required to apply for this position, it is highly desirable. 

 

Job Description 

  • This position will be expected to perform high-quality clinical care, education, andresearch. 

  • The successful candidate will be expected to engage in academic activity in clinical/basic research and medical education. 

  • Applicants should be comfortable supervising residents, fellows, CRNAs, and SRNAs.   

  • Applicants should also feel comfortable performing cases on their own if required 

  • Applicants should be able to participate in the department’s academic activities, including teaching and mentoring trainees and participating in departmental conferences and faculty meetings. 

  • Duties include teaching residents, fellows, and medical students.  

  • Some clinical work in general anesthesia may be required depending on the department'sneeds. 

  • The effort distribution may change based on department needs, candidates’ interests, and success in obtaining extramural grant funding.  

 

Compensation: 

Compensation depends on years of experience and determination of professorial rank at the time of hiring.
