Position Summary:

The Job Coach is responsible for the provision of on-the-job supervision and support for young adults with disabilities. Incumbent in this position demonstrates sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Job Coach is responsible for:

  • Using the Individual Supported Employment Model develop appropriate job opportunities for assigned clients.
  • Supervise individuals to ensure the acquisition of daily living skills utilizing TEACCH methodology
  • Complete program participant’s skills assessment (TTAP) and place participants into appropriate job experience.
  • Support participants with VR enrollment
  • Supervise clients on the job to ensure work site policies and procedures are being met.
  • Assist in transportation planning and provide transportation training, when necessary.
  • Provide systematic and ongoing follow along support and services.
  • Advocate for career advancement and increased wages
  • Maintain ongoing communication with family members and significant others regarding client progress, problems etc.
  • Ensure participants are making progress towards goals and support transition to employment program before the end of training experience.
  • Maintain accurate participant records
  • Assist with participant crisis as needed.

Physical Demands:

Regular to frequent requirement, and as needed, to lift boxes (up to 50 lbs.), including bending, stooping, stretching, walking, squatting, pushing, pulling, kneeling or sitting on the floor.

The work is in a cafeteria setting. In order to conduct activities and interact with students in a meaningful way, some physical exertion such as the following physical demands are required:

  • Noise level can be moderate to loud.
  • Detecting unsafe situations by sight or sound.
  • Moving quickly to intervene in unsafe situations.

Educational & Experiential Requirements:

Minimum Associate’s degree with and emphasis in Mental Health, Special Education, Psychology or Social Work.

Behavior Analysis credentials or experience highly preferred.

Minimum of one (1) year or experience working with vulnerable young adults preferred.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and accounting software required.

  • Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbal with proactive communication style.
  • Customer service-oriented, strong organizational, time management, attention-to-detail and follow-up skills.
  • High level of accuracy and analytical skills.
  • Ability to promote teamwork and build effective relationships.
  • Ability to take initiative and meet objectives.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding personal information of participants and staff.
  • Desire to improve the lives of people with special needs.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 30%

Other:

Work a flexible schedule as required.

Other related duties as necessary to ensure the smooth running and efficiency of Easter Seals South Florida as a whole.

Successful completion of background process which includes: Local background check, Level 2 clearance (FBI, FDLE), clear TB test, medical clearance, drug test and reference checks.

Adhere to the use of Universal Health & Safety Precautions as applicable
