The in-house Legal & Compliance team at Blackstone is seeking a highly experienced legal contracts management professional to support the New York (HQ) legal team.

We are seeking a strategic, collaborative, and adaptable leader to drive legal operations and contract management processes across the firm. The candidate will report to Managing Directors within Legal & Compliance and serve as a senior partner to business stakeholders across Blackstone. In addition to possessing deep expertise in contract management and legal operations, the successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership, sound judgment, strong business acumen, and a track record of driving process improvements at scale. The candidate should have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills and feel comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.

The individual will leverage their legal, operational, and leadership experience through the following core responsibilities:

  • Lead the structure, drafting, review, and negotiation of a wide variety of commercial agreements, including confidentiality agreements, engagement letters, service agreements, technology agreements, and other strategic commercial contracts

  • Partner with senior business leaders and stakeholders to provide practical legal and operational guidance that balances legal risk with business objectives

  • Develop and execute innovative strategies to drive operational efficiencies, optimize outside counsel engagement practices, and reduce legal spend while maintaining high-quality legal representation

  • Oversee vendor management initiatives, including financial analysis, benchmarking, alternative fee arrangements, and strategic vendor negotiations

  • Manage key outside vendor relationships and oversee related procurement and payment processes through Blackstone’s systems and platforms

  • Design, implement, and enhance policies, procedures, and best practices related to contract management, document retention, governance, and record management across the firm

  • Lead training initiatives and develop scalable resources regarding contract management standards, market positions, legal policies, and operational procedures

  • Serve as a senior point of contact for internal clients, ensuring effective collaboration and alignment between Legal & Compliance and business teams

  • Utilize internal databases, reporting tools, and systems to analyze trends, generate insights, and support data-driven decision-making

  • Drive cross-functional legal operations projects and strategic initiatives, including process improvement and legal technology adoption

  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to the development of team processes, capabilities, and best practices

  • Support additional strategic projects and initiatives on an as-needed basis

Qualifications:

  • JD required with 10+ years of relevant legal and/or contract management experience, preferably within a top law firm, financial services organization, or in-house legal department

  • Admission to a state bar in good standing; New York admission preferred

  • Demonstrated experience independently negotiating and managing complex commercial agreements

  • Strong leadership presence with influence across all levels of the organization

  • Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, research, and writing skills

  • Strong judgment balancing legal risks and commercial objectives in a pragmatic and business-oriented manner

  • Strong stakeholder management skills and experience partnering with senior business leaders and cross-functional teams

  • High degree of professional ethics, integrity, and discretion

  • Excellent judgment, analytical capabilities, and problem-solving skills

  • Strong interest in legal operations, process optimization, and legal technology

  • Advanced proficiency with legal technology and workflow management tools such as Adobe Pro, Asana, Monday.com, DocuSign, Jira, Office 365, and the Microsoft Office suite

  • Meticulous attention to detail with exceptional organizational and project management skills

  • Proven success managing multiple complex projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Strategic mindset with substantial initiative, creativity, and drive

  • Commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, and professional development

Expected annual base salary range:

$225,000 - $275,000

Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.

Additional compensation and benefits offered in connection with the role consist of comprehensive health benefits, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, and FSA benefits; paid time off; life insurance; 401(k) plan; and discretionary bonuses. Certain employees may also be eligible for equity and other incentive compensation at Blackstone’s sole discretion.
