Job Title: Loading Supervisor (Maritime Warehouse Logistics)
Position Summary
The Loading Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all loading and unloading operations in a maritime warehouse. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and compliant handling of cargo by coordinating with port operations, transportation teams, and vessel schedules. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, experience in logistics or port operations, and a solid understanding of safety and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Enforce completion of inspection and condition reports for the warehouse and warehouse equipment at the start of every shift
- Supervise and coordinate daily loading and unloading activities for inbound and outbound cargo
- Coordinate with documentation, warehouse staff, drivers, and port and vessel personnel to ensure timely operations
- Ensure proper cargo handling, stowage, and securing in accordance with maritime and safety regulations
- Monitor productivity, workflow, and labor allocation to meet operational deadlines
- Enforce safety policies and procedures, including OSHA and maritime standards
- Conduct pre-shift meetings and safety briefings
- Inspect cargo for damage, accuracy, and compliance with documentation
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, loading logs, and inventory movements
- Troubleshoot operational issues and implement corrective actions
- Train, mentor, and evaluate warehouse and loading staff
- Ensure the proper storage and organization of unused seals while maintaining accurate seal log records
- Responsible for maintaining warehouse hygiene, sanitation, and infrastructure
- Report operational issues, discrepancies, and safety concerns to the Warehouse Manager and senior management for prompt resolution and clear communication.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3–5+ years of experience in warehouse, logistics, or port operations
- 1–2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience
- Knowledge of maritime logistics, cargo handling, and port operations preferred
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety compliance standards
- Experience with forklifts, pallet jacks, and cargo handling equipment
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
Preferred Certifications
- OSHA 10 or 30
- Forklift certification
- TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)
- Hazmat or dangerous goods training (a plus)
Work Environment & Requirements
- On-site role in a maritime warehouse/port facility
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Exposure to outdoor conditions, heavy equipment, and varying weather
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and to stand or walk for extended periods
