Travels to off-line stations and performs and/or supervises contract personnel’s performance of duties relating to the loading/unloading of aircraft and cargo handling. Ensures that aircraft and cargo handling meet all company and governmental policies and regulations and that customers receive quality service.

  • Must pass initial training and testing for loadmaster certification which includes qualifications to perform all aspects of ground operations including Weight & Balance, Hazardous Materials, De-icing, Fueling, Special Loads, Catering, Security, etc. Successfully completing annual recurrent training and maintaining a valid loadmaster certification at all times is also required.
  • Monitors and/or performs duties to include but not limited to aircraft loading/unloading, aircraft movement, employee and contractor safety, HAZMAT, reporting and pallet build-up.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and utilizes load manifest, cargo build up logs or warehouse weight sheets to generate the loadplan/loadsheet for the flight.
  • Utilizes company programs to build the Weight & Balance.
  • Reviews cargo documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness. Will report discrepancies to company management.
  • Maintains a current passport and travel to off-line stations worldwide and be eligible to qualify for a CAAC card for AMC operations.
  • Ensures safety of company aircraft and crews by preventing aircraft damage, ensuring proper loading to include nets and locks, Verification checks in accordance with company manuals, ensuring HAZMAT is handled correctly including loading and paperwork, develops and distributes load plans, determines aircraft weight and balance.
  • Ensures that contractors adhere to company and governmental safety and other applicable regulations and procedures.
  • Ensures that personnel at off-line stations perform tasks for aircraft to arrive and depart as scheduled.
  • Operates the aircraft loading system to ensure established loading/unloading procedures are followed.
  • Monitors contract personnel’s compliance with pallets/nets/straps procedures and ensures that appropriate number of pallets/nets/straps are returned.
  • Completes and/or maintains company reports, messages, files, logs and forms and ensures that necessary paperwork (e.g. Customs) is completed.
  • Knows and adheres to company operating and safety policies, operations, processes and procedures appropriate to the job.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

  • High school or equivalent work experience.
  • Airline cargo and ground handling experience is recommended.
  • Airline weight and balance experience is recommended.
  • Proof of IATA/ICAO hazardous material experience is recommended.
  • Understanding of aircraft positions along with heights and weight limitations recommended.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of ground operations equipment recommended.
  • Understands and uses air freight and flight terminology and processes.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License and clean driving record

Physical Demands:

  • Lifting/carrying requirements:  Up to 50 pounds occasionally.  Repetitions will vary with projects. 
  • Climbing:  Up ladders and stairs. 
  • Reaching:  Full range of motion may be required to perform the essential functions of this position
  • Standing/Walking:  Concrete floor in warehouse and paved ramp.  Surfaces can be seasonally wet and icy
  • Crawling:  Minimal crawling required.
  • Repetitive bending/Twisting:  Occasional to moderate.
  • Vision:  Good vision is required to perform all tasks.
  • Hearing:  Good hearing is required for effective and safe communication with co-workers.
  • Speaking: Speaking is required to communicate with flight crews, customers, ground personnel, etc.

Competitive compensation will be offered based on a variety of factors, including a candidate's experience, skills, education, geographic location, internal equity and other factors.
