ADVANCED PRACTICE REGISTERED NURSE (APRN)

Medical Director 

Exempt

Under general supervision of the Medical Director, provide comprehensive primary medical care to homeless and underserved men and women those medical services normally expected of an internist or family practitioner in an office practice.   The APRN provides medical care to patients including the evaluation, diagnosis and management of their medical conditions.  This includes but is not limited to taking of a medical history, performance of physical examination, ordering and interpretation of diagnostic tests, formulation of an assessment of condition and a treatment plan, writing prescriptions, ongoing follow up of same, and management of medical information from specialists.   This includes the entire spectrum of general internal medicine, including outpatient management of HIV disease.

  • Comply with the Mission and work in the Core Values of Saint John of God.  
  • Carry a patient caseload consistent with quality of care and productivity standards set forth by Camillus Health Concern. 
  • Communicate on an ongoing basis with other health care providers and other staff on all aspects of the health needs of patients.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork connected with duties, including sealing of progress notes in the Electronic Health Record in accordance with policy set forth by Camillus Health Concern. 
  • Ensures fiduciary responsibility by dropping charges for each encounter in accordance with the regulations set forth by Camillus Health Concern. 
  • Attend medical staff meetings and conferences as required.
  • Maintain professional competence through participation in outside conferences, and other continuing medical education activities.
  • Participate in on call services after hours.
  • Assist in peer review chart audits and other appropriate quality activities.
  • Immediately report any problems and/or unusual occurrences to the Medical Director.
  • Practice accepted infection control measures in accordance with the OSHA Bloodborne pathogens standards and in accordance with Camillus Clinical Policy and Procedures.   
  • Participate in and promote all quality improvement related activities as delineated in CHC’s QI plan
  • Perform any other department or agency related duties or special projects as directed by Supervisor.

 

  • Valid APRN license to practice medicine in the State of Florida
  • Eligible for Medicaid/Medicare provider status
  • Experience with public health issues as it relates to health center needs 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and documentation
  • Commitment to the mission of Camillus Health Concern, Inc.

 

 

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish), Creole a plus
  • Work effectively and productively in a team environment
  • Computer literate; previous experience with Electronic Medical Records
  • Culturally sensitive to the social, psychological and health care needs of the
  • Homeless and/or underserved populations
