Overview

Armor Health is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our Human Resources team and support payroll operations for a growing healthcare organization of approximately 1,000 employees across multiple locations and legal entities.

This is a hands-on payroll processing role for an experienced payroll professional who can step in and contribute immediately. The ideal candidate has independently processed payroll for a workforce of approximately 1,000 employees, has experience managing multi-site, multi-EIN payroll, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where accuracy, deadlines, and problem-solving are critical.

Paylocity experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Process accurate and timely payroll across multiple locations and EINs.

  • Independently manage the end-to-end payroll process, from payroll preparation through finalization.

  • Review payroll for accuracy, including earnings, deductions, taxes, benefits, garnishments, adjustments, and other payroll-related transactions.

  • Process payroll across multiple legal entities and jurisdictions while ensuring appropriate tax and compliance requirements are met.

  • Reconcile payroll and identify and resolve discrepancies before payroll is finalized.

  • Partner with HR, Benefits, Finance, and operational leaders to resolve payroll issues and ensure accurate employee pay.

  • Research and resolve complex payroll questions and discrepancies with a high degree of urgency and attention to detail.

  • Manage payroll-related reporting, audits, reconciliations, and documentation.

  • Support payroll tax and compliance activities, including responding to payroll-related inquiries and coordinating with applicable vendors and agencies.

  • Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure payroll processes are properly documented.

  • Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing and reconciliations.

  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and efficiency.

  • Serve as a knowledgeable payroll resource to employees and internal stakeholders.

  • Partner closely with the Director of Payroll while taking ownership of assigned payroll responsibilities.

This Role Is a Good Fit If You…

  • Have actually run payroll, rather than primarily providing administrative support to a payroll team.

  • Can walk into an established payroll operation and become productive quickly.

  • Have experience managing payroll complexity across multiple EINs, locations, and employee populations.

  • Are comfortable owning payroll deadlines and resolving issues without needing step-by-step direction.

  • Know how to audit your own work and catch errors before employees are impacted.

  • Understand that payroll is a high-accountability function where accuracy and timeliness are non-negotiable.

This Role Is Not a Fit If You…

  • Have primarily provided administrative or clerical support to a payroll department.

  • Have only processed payroll for a small employee population.

  • Have primarily handled timekeeping, onboarding, or HR administration without owning payroll processing.

  • Require extensive training on fundamental payroll processes.

  • Have not worked with multiple EINs or multi-site payroll environments.
