Job DetailsJob Location: Miami Country Day School - Miami, FL 33161  JOB SUMMARY:   Miami Country Day School (MCDS) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Security Operations Supervisor (SOS) to lead the daily operations of our campus security program. Reporting to the Director of Security, the SOS is responsible for supervising security personnel, overseeing Command Center operations, coordinating emergency response activities, and ensuring the effective execution of campus safety procedures. This position works closely with school administrators, Facilities, Information Technology, Operations, and public safety partners to maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, families, and visitors. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with strong operational experience, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in dynamic situations.   ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & TASKS:   Supervise daily security operations, including Command Center activities and assigned security personnel. Coordinate responses to campus incidents, emergencies, alarms, and weather-related events. Monitor security technology, including cameras, access control, alarms, and emergency notification systems. Manage staffing schedules, post assignments, overtime, and security coverage for daily operations and special events. Support onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management of security personnel. Maintain security records, incident reports, and operational documentation. Collaborate with school leadership, Facilities, IT, and external agencies to support campus safety and operational excellence. Coordinate security planning, traffic management, parking operations, and off-duty law enforcement for school events and athletic competitions. Promote a culture of professionalism, accountability, and exceptional customer service throughout the security team.   QualificationsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:   High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in security operations, public safety, emergency communications, dispatch, or a related field. Experience with emergency planning, incident management, and security technology systems. Valid driver's license. Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and respond to emergencies as needed. PREFERRED:   Supervisory or leadership experience. Experience in an independent school, higher education, law enforcement, emergency management, or public safety environment. Emergency Management certification. Florida Class D and G Security Licenses. CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain. The successful candidate will demonstrate: Strong leadership, decision-making, and organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Professional judgment and discretion in sensitive situations. The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. A collaborative approach to working with faculty, staff, students, families, and community partners.
