Watsco is a Fortune 500 company and the leading distributor of HVAC/R equipment and supplies. We're obsessed with growth, so we need to grow our team. We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our team as a Staff Tax Accountant. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual with a bachelor's degree in accounting and a minimum of one full busy seasons in a public accounting firm.

 

Our teams are currently working a hybrid schedule. They are in the office Tuesday through Thursday, and work from home on Monday and Friday.

 

Summary Prepares federal, state and local corporate and partnership tax returns and tax provision by performing the following duties.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Prepare corporate and partnership federal, state and local tax returns. Must have 1120C and 1065 experience.
  • Prepare extensions, estimated payments, withholding payments for corporations.
  • Responsible for assisting in the preparation of the year-end and quarterly tax provisions for corporations.
  • Examines accounts and records and computes taxes owed according to prescribed rates, laws, and regulations.
  • Assist with responses to notices from taxing authorities and field audits.
  • Completes forms for tax refunds.
  • Advises management regarding effects of business activities on taxes, and on strategies for minimizing tax liability.
  • Ensures that organization complies with information reporting and other taxing authority requirements.
  • Organizes and maintains tax records and conducts tax studies and special projects.
  • Provides tax advice to organization.
  • Perform tax research as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience                                                      

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required
  • CPA and/or Masters in Tax is a plus
  • One tax season in public accounting preferred
  • Preparation of Federal 1120, 1065 and state tax returns is required
  • Knowledgeable in Excel
  • Knowledgeable in OneSource or GoSystems tax preparation software and tax research software
  • Knowledgeable in Sage Fixed Assets is a plus
