Chief Engineer

The Hotel Chief Engineer is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the maintenance and engineering operations of the hotel. This position ensures that all facilities are in optimal working condition, enhancing guest satisfaction and safety. The Chief Engineer will lead a team of maintenance professionals, manage projects, and ensure compliance with safety regulations while maintaining high standards of service.

What You’ll Do:

Supervise, manage, and develop the maintenance team to ensure efficient daily operations and compliance with hotel standards.

Oversee the maintenance, repair, and operation of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other critical building systems.

Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, and inventory.

Conduct regular facility inspections to identify issues and implement proactive preventive maintenance programs.

Lead and manage facility upgrade and renovation projects, ensuring completion on time and within budget.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date schematics and documentation for all mechanical and electrical systems to support troubleshooting and repairs.

Train and coach team members on safety protocols, procedures, and best practices.

Partner with hotel leadership and other departments to promptly address facility-related needs and ensure seamless operations.

Ensure compliance with all safety, regulatory, and operational requirements.

Ability to communicate in both English and Spanish is essential in this role.

 

About You:

Proven experience supervising and managing maintenance or engineering teams.

Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical systems (high and low voltage), plumbing, and general mechanical and industrial maintenance.

Experience working with programmable logic controllers (PLC) and their application in facility operations.

Ability to read, interpret, and maintain schematics for mechanical and electrical systems.

Familiarity with project management principles and vendor management.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, train, and develop team members.

Preferred experience in construction painting, caulking, electrical systems, and vendor coordination.
