The Security Officer patrols assigned property and grounds to ensure the safety of building occupants and safeguard institutional property. Additionally, the Security Officer provides assistance to individuals that are on University grounds in the event of an emergency. Core responsibilities include notifying local police when backup is necessary, inspecting buildings and equipment, permitting entry after verifying identity, informing violators of policies, controlling traffic, checking surveillance cameras, submitting reports, securing exits, investigating suspicious activity, adhering to policies, patrolling hospitals and grounds to prevent and document criminal activity, monitoring alarms, responding to emergencies, providing excellent customer service, maintaining a safe environment, handling disruptive individuals, assisting with traffic control, completing reports, controlling evidence and valuables, operating University vehicles, working independently with minimal supervision, and completing mandatory training. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, minimum 1 year relevant experience, valid Florida driver's license, ability to operate a motor vehicle, proficiency in computer software, excellent communication and customer service skills, ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends, and commitment to University values.
