Exciting opportunity for an Assistant Professor of Clinical Full-time faculty member in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. The scope of practice of a certified sex therapist at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center Survivorship and Supportive Care Institute involves the assessment and treatment of sexual health concerns that arise as a result of cancer diagnosis and treatment. These may include changes in physical or emotional responses related to intimacy, such as shifts in interest, comfort, sensation, or overall experience in addition to body image concerns, relationship strain, reproductive health (e.g., fertility and fertility preservation), and the psychological impact of illness on intimacy. A certified sex therapist provides evidence-based, patient-centered interventions through individual, couples, or group therapy, with a focus on improving communication, sexual function, and emotional well-being.
Job Functions:
Provide mental health services for patients experiencing sexual health concerns following cancer diagnosis and treatment
Provide mental health services for patients experiencing anxiety, depression or difficulty coping following cancer diagnosis
Provide mental health screenings and conduct brief psychological interventions
Provide mental health services, including psychological assessment, psychological testing, individual, group therapy and behavioral management
Perform timely and complete documentation of services provided, consistent with State regulations and professional standards
Attend multidisciplinary team meetings
Identify patients requiring psychiatric evaluation
Assist in the development and presentation of culturally sensitive mental health services including community talks, educational resources, or programs

Supervision Received:
Reports to the Department Medical Director of Psycho-Oncology for SCCC
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Psy.D. or Ph.D.; valid State of Florida Licensed Psychologist or license-eligible
Certification: Active AASECT Sex Therapist certification in good standing
Preferred Qualifications:
Research experience in sexual health and cancer
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Experience in behavior medicine.
Prior experience working with interdisciplinary teams.
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
