Job Summary
The HR Instructional Designer develops, implements, and evaluates educational programs and learning materials to support employee performance, regulatory compliance, and organizational effectiveness within Kettering Health. This role collaborates with subject matter experts to create engaging, effective, and compliant training solutions using instructional design best practices and technology. Performs other duties as assigned. All job responsibilities are to be carried out in alignment with Kettering Health's mission, values, and B-SAFE program.
Job Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field
(Preferred) Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field
Work Experience
Preferred Experience:
3-5 years of experience in instructional design, curriculum development, or adult education, preferably in healthcare or regulated environment.
Experience with e-learning development tools (e.g., articulate 360, adobe captivate) and learning management system (LMS) administration.
Prior experience designing training for healthcare compliance or clinical settings.
Licenses, Certifications and Registrations
PREFERRED: Certifications related to Talent Development, Learning Experience Design, or Organizational Development preferred (e.g., CPLP, ATD).
PREFERRED: SHRM Certified Professional or related HR certifications are preferred but not required.
Skills
Proficiency in instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles
Experience with e-learning authoring tools and multimedia content creation
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to collaborate with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams
Analytical skills for needs assessment and program evaluation
Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS)
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Attention to detail and commitment to regulatory compliance
Essential Functions
Design and develop instructional materials, e-learning modules, and blended learning programs tailored to employee and organizational needs.
Collaborate with subject matter experts to assess learning needs, define objectives, and ensure content accuracy and relevance.
Apply instructional design principles and adult learning theories to create engaging, effective learning experiences.
Develop multimedia assets such as videos, graphics, and interactive simulations to enhance training engagement.
Administer and maintain the learning management system (LMS), ensuring seamless delivery and tracking of training content.
Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs using assessment tools, feedback, and data analytics, and recommend improvements.
Ensure all training materials and programs comply with regulatory standards, including HIPAA, OSHA, and accreditation requirements.
Update and revise existing training content to reflect changes in policies, procedures, or regulations.
Provide technical support and guidance to employees and leaders regarding LMS navigation and training access.
Document instructional design processes and maintain accurate records of training activities and outcomes.
Participate in organizational development initiatives and cross-functional projects as assigned.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.
