Position Overview:

This hands-on lead position is responsible for supporting production by pulling and allocating material from inventory to lineside supermarkets and designated staging areas. This lead position will support the SCS and SCM in establishing standard work and goals for the Materials Management team. The MCL is ultimately responsible for maintaining a high level of inventory accuracy and integrity within the facilities.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide functional guidance and daily support to materials and warehouse personnel.
  • Assist in developing and implementing standard work processes for materials management.
  • Lead cycle count program to ensure proper inventory usage and control. Ensure daily, weekly and monthly cycle counts are maintained.
  • Analyze inventory transactions and variances.
  • Provide ideas/insights to refine established procedures to improve inventory accuracy and efficiency, improve quality, and reduce cost.
  • Coordinates the receiving, storing, and shipping of merchandise and materials. Handles and protects inventory property to avoid physical damage. Secures warehouse contents against shrink.
  • Issues production materials, either manufactured or purchased, to meet production schedules.
  • Identify and escalate as appropriate issues regarding the handling and storage of products.
  • Work with supply chain management in the design of the "lean warehouse/factory" and the pursuit of value stream improvements.

 

Other Important Responsibilities:

  • Timely Corrective Action response and resolution to relevant project situations
  • Engage and support companywide Safety and Cleanliness programs
  • Handle related email correspondence
  • Provide backup support for other supply chain functions
  • Will be required to perform other job functions, as assigned.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Education, Certifications; Associate degree preferred, High School Education a must.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to self-check own work.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Task oriented excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize workload.
  • Enthusiastic attitude, cooperative team player, adaptable to new or changing circumstances, professional demeanor, sensitive to client needs, self-motivated, creative and innovative.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills; and
  • High level of computer literacy including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Outlook.

 

Physical qualifications and work environment:

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to sustain office work for 8+ hours per day including the following:
    • Sitting in an office chair
    • Typing
    • Reaching for the telephone
    • Standing at office equipment
    • Hearing for phone use
    • Sight for computer use
  • Must be able to sustain factory work as needed including the following:
    • Standing at machinery
    • Reaching and pulling to operate machinery
    • Sight for machinery operation
    • Walking through shop
  • Office environment is of moderate noise level.
  • Shop noise levels are such that protective ear-coverings are recommended.
