We are seeking a Cladding Optician to join our Middlefield Optics team.

As a Cladding Optician,you will be responsible for the advanced manufacturing deposition process to create a protective of functional layer (or coating) to improve wear resistance, corrosion protection or thermal conductivity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manufacture and clean optical components in accordance with established best practices.
Collaborate with engineering to develop and optimize precision optics manufacturing processes.
Perform manual and ultrasonic cleaning, inspection, and handling of optical components.
Load components onto standard, custom, or improvised fixtures and operate optics manufacturing equipment (example grinder, polisher, chemical baths, CNC etc).
Operate, monitor, and maintain manufacturing equipment to ensure product quality.
Support the creation, revision, and adherence to optical work instructions.
Test optical components using various metrology equipment and accurately document results.
Perform routine equipment cleaning and preventative maintenance.
Troubleshoot hardware and software issues as needed.
Comply with all safety policies and procedures.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

High School Diploma or GED; Associate degree preferred
3-5 years of hands-on production manufacturing/operations or a working knowledge of one or more: mechanics, chemical handling/epoxies electronics
Enjoys hands-on work and takes pride in craftmanship
Solid mathematical and technical aptitude
Ability to consistently read and interpret complex technical drawings, written specifications, and verbal instructions
Excellent manual dexterity, patience and persistence, and attention to detail to handle delicate optical components
Collaborative team player with a focus on problem-solving
Ability to take initiative and to be flexible/adaptable with shifting priorities
Organized, conscientious and quality focused
Computer skills for data entry, documentation, and communication
Capable to lift and move up to 70 lbs. and stand for extended periods of time
Driven to achieve with a commitment to quality and a safety-first mindset
