As a CNC Machinist - 3rd Shift in Middlefield, CT, you will role, you will work in a collaborative team environment with state-of-the-art equipment where you will be responsible for operating machines to perform combinations of machining operations in our cutting-edge Optics group.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate CNC and non-CNC machines to perform machining operations, including but not limited to drilling, milling and shaping glass material to specifications.
  • Assemble cutting tools and position tools in machine spindles according to requirements.
  • Write, load, edit and store programs to produce accurately machined parts.
  • Work from complex drawings, sketches, specifications and written/verbal instructions.
  • Perform complex set-ups to operate machinery on assignments that are new and unusual.
  • Partner with engineering teams as required.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma (preferably at a trade school). Associate’s degree or Certificate in machining, metrology and manufacturing operations a plus.
  • 1+ years of hands-on production machining experience.
  • Safety first, continuous improvement/ high quality mindset.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and process routings.
  • Working knowledge of shop math and theory.
  • Collaborative team player with a focus on problem-solving and ability to communicate with, influence and mentor others.
  • Driven to achieve with the ability to take initiative, be resilient and flexible with shifting priorities.
  • Capable to lift and move up to 70 lbs. and standing for extended periods of time.
