We are seeking a Quality Engineer to support manufacturing at our Middlefield, CT facility.

 

As a Manufacturing Quality Engineer you will focus on hands‑on manufacturing quality execution and process ownership and for several key quality processes critical to site performance, including Statistical Process Control (SPC), Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), New Product Introduction (NPI) quality support, and Incoming Quality Control (IQC).

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day‑to‑day quality engineering support to manufacturing operations.
  • Partner with Manufacturing and Engineering to improve process capability, robustness, and documentation.
  • Support containment, investigation, and resolution of in‑process quality issues.
  • Own and continuously improve the site’s Statistical Process Control (SPC) program, including control strategy development, charting, analysis, and response plans.
  • Lead Measurement System Analysis (MSA) activities to ensure inspection and test systems are capable and fit for use.
  • Own Incoming Quality Control (IQC) processes, including inspection strategies, supplier issue investigation, and corrective action support.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities from a manufacturing quality perspective, including readiness reviews, risk assessment, and early production support.
  • Develop and maintain PFMEAs and control plans for assigned manufacturing processes.
  • Perform root cause analysis using structured problem‑solving methodologies.
  • Implement effective corrective and preventive actions to address true root causes and prevent recurrence.
  • Apply statistical and analytical tools to evaluate process performance and guide improvement.
  • Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with quality system requirements.
  • Participate in or support Lean / continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, yield, and process stability.

 

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Quality engineering, Optical Engineering preferred.
  • 3–5+ years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably high‑mix, low‑volume with ability read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Working with electro-mechanical, optical, or opto-mechanical assemblies preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), PFMEA and risk‑based quality tools, Root Cause & Corrective Action methodologies.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt, Lean Certification, and/or AQS Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) preferred.
  • Communicating and influencing skills that foster collaborative work across functions.
