Summary

The Materials Manager serves as the critical link between material planning, production scheduling, supply chain strategy, and shop floor execution, driving a stable, predictable production environment. The role combines leadership of materials management with direct ownership of production control and logistics execution.

This position plays a key role in delivering on-time shipments, optimizing inventory, and enabling operational excellence through strong daily management, cross-functional coordination, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

路 Lead and develop teams across scheduling, shipping, receiving, warehouse, and inventory control.

路 Establish clear accountability, standard work, and performance expectations.

路 Promote a culture of safety, ownership, and continuous improvement.

Production Control & Schedule Execution

路 Own creation and execution of the production schedule to meet customer demand.

路 Drive schedule adherence through monitoring work orders, WIP, and output.

路 Identify risks early and take action to protect delivery performance.

路 Ensure alignment between production plans, capacity, and material availability.

Material Planning & Flow

路 Ensure timely availability of materials to support production schedules.

路 Coordinate material flow including kitting, staging, and replenishment.

路 Resolve material shortages and bottlenecks quickly.

路 Align inventory levels with production needs.

Inventory & Warehouse Management

路 Maintain inventory control processes to ensure accuracy and optimal levels.

路 Minimize excess and obsolete inventory.

路 Ensure accuracy through cycle counts and audits.

Shipping, Receiving & Logistics

路 Oversee receiving processes for accuracy and timeliness.

路 Lead shipping operations to ensure on-time delivery.

路 Optimize logistics processes for efficiency and cost.

路 Ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.

Purchasing & Supplier Coordination

路 Support sourcing and supplier performance.

路 Collaborate to mitigate supply risks and improve lead times.

路 Maintain strong supplier relationships.

Flow Stability & Issue Resolution

路 Maintain a stable production environment by identifying disruptions.

路 Drive rapid escalation and resolution of issues.

路 Partner cross-functionally to remove constraints.

Process Improvement & Reporting

路 Analyze performance data to improve flow, cost, and delivery.

路 Lead continuous improvement initiatives.

路 Utilize ERP/MRP systems for execution and reporting.

路 Provide visibility to risks and performance.




Requirements

Qualifications

Education

路 Bachelor鈥檚 degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or related field.

路 Equivalent experience considered.

Experience

路 5+ years in materials management, production control, or logistics.

路 Experience leading teams across scheduling and warehouse functions. 3-5 years of supervisory experience preferred.

路 Strong ERP/MRP experience.

路 Lean / Continuous Improvement experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

路 Ability to sit, stand, walk, and lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.

路 Moderate noise environment typical of a manufacturing setting.
