We’re looking for a highly detail-oriented accounting professional who can work independently, manage complex data, and ensure financial accuracy.

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting professional with strong healthcare billing experience to support core financial operations. This role requires advanced Excel capabilities, a solid understanding of general ledger activity, and the ability to independently manage reconciliations and reporting in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform healthcare billing functions, including Medicaid and private insurance billing, vouchering, cash and denial postings, and collections follow-up
  • Prepare and post journal entries; maintain accuracy of general ledger activity
  • Complete account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Develop and maintain complex Excel spreadsheets and financial tracking tools
  • Support monthly and year-end close processes, including financial statement preparation
  • Assist with internal and external audits by preparing required documentation
  • Analyze financial data, identify trends, and recommend process improvements
  • Collaborate with staff and leadership to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting

Required Qualifications

  • Healthcare billing experience (Medicaid and private insurance) – required
  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, data analysis) – required
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and reconciliations – required
  • Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field with 1+ year of experience, or Bachelor’s degree
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to work independently
  • Effective communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a non-profit or human services environment

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Primarily office-based with extended periods of computer work
  • Ability to move throughout the workday and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs
  • Work performed in a collaborative, open office setting
