Position Summary

The Accounting Manager will work with the Akers Corporate Controller on a variety of accounting and financial analysis duties and projects. Recurring duties will include month end close responsibilities, account reconciliations and decision support and analysis for multiple facilities. This role will also support the company’s initiative in developing and deploying a business intelligence system and work with the General Managers and Corporate Controller on key business initiatives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable department
  • Manage the completion of periodic financial reports and ensure the reported results comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other internally established controls and policies.
  • Monitor and enforce internal controls to protect company assets
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
  • Supporting others in company initiatives including accounting automation
  • Lead timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Responsible for expense integrity and analysis to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Proactively provide explanation of various expenses variances 
  • Manage and maintain the Purchase Order process
  • Complete various monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for Cash, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, etc.
  • Manage and centralize our company credit insurance program
  • Review and initiate various weekly payments
  • Research, maintain and reconcile production and accounting software transactions
  • Collaborate with external auditors to resolve issues and complete scheduled audits
  • Coordinate with external auditors and supply necessary documentation for corporate audits
  • Assist in other audits such as sales tax, personal property, worker’s compensation for assigned locations
  • Delegate daily tasks, set performance goals, and train new team members
  • File quarterly and annual reports as required
  • Ability to work in excess of 40 hours, as business needs arise 
  • Regular and reliable attendance
  • Any other task or duty that is deemed necessary by management.

Work Environment / Physical 

Fast paced environment, requiring adaptation to continuous changes in Company, Customer and People needs

  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arm’s length, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time at desk in traditional office environment
  • Ability to travel at least 5%

Qualifications

 

Education & Experience: 

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant financial experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel experience (VLOOKUP’s, pivot tables, SUMIF, modeling)
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work varied and additional hours during closing
