Overview
The Social Worker will be responsible for providing counseling services to students of Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine, Middletown Campus, and will report directly to the Dean of Student Affairs.
Responsibilities
- Provides short-term psychotherapy and crisis management to address the mental health needs of a diverse student community, as well as referrals to outside providers as needed
- Provides a network of mental health referrals in the Middletown, NY community to serve our students with long-term treatment needs
- Develops outreach targeted to at-risk students
- Educates and collaborates with other departments in identifying and referring students of concern
- Develops and maintains a system for HIPPA-compliant records of mental health services
- Provides groups, workshops, and educational events to teach about wellness and mental illness
- Develops a method for tracking trends in requests for and obtainment of counseling services
- Serves on various committees assigned by the Pre-clinical Dean
- Provides community education about psycho-educational topics through fliers, bulletin boards, emails, and brochures
- Provides support services and accepts assignments from the Dean of Student Affairs
- Connects with local resources to provide extra curricular programs and wellness events for students and staff
- Oversees Wellness committee
- May be assigned as advisor to various sanctioned clubs/organizations
Qualifications
Education/Experience
- Master's Degree required.
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)
- Minimum of 3 years experience in counseling
- Hospital/academic setting experience preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Clinical Mental Health skills covering a full range of mental health issues such as depression, PTSD, anxiety, eating disorders, OCD, relationships, etc.
- Counseling skills: Cognitive, Relaxation, relationship, career, and trauma counseling skills.
- Organizational and leadership.
- Issues regarding adults age 22 – 50.
- Primary prevention.
- Promotion of counseling services.
- Indirect outreach to the community of Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine
- Stress management.
- Ability to work on various multidisciplinary teams/committees.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook
Travel
- Work takes place in Administrative Offices.

USD $73,963.00/Yr.Minimum Salary
