Visiting Professor of Pre-Modern Chinese Literature & Culture

The College of East Asian Studies at Wesleyan University invites applications for a Visiting Professor position in Pre-Modern Chinese Literature and Culture beginning September 1, 2026 and ending May 31, 2027. The fields of expertise for this position are open and include (but are not limited to) East Asian studies, comparative literature and/or other literary studies, anthropology, history, gender studies, music and/or ethnomusicology, film, or media studies.  The successful candidate may also teach courses relating to modern Chinese literature and culture.  The teaching load for the position is five courses during the academic year, possibly including one advanced language class.

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D in hand in East Asian Studies or a related field to be hired at the rank of Visiting Professor; MA in East Asian Studies or a related field to be hired at the rank of Visiting Instructor. College-level teaching experience is required.  

Work Location: In-person on the campus of Wesleyan University
