Job DetailsJob Location: Main Campus - MIDLAND, TX 79705Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: Associates DegreeJob Category: AccountingThe Purchasing Coordinator supports the College’s procurement and purchasing operations by coordinating purchasing activities, ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal regulations, and assisting campus departments with procurement processes. This position plays a key role in maintaining purchasing documentation, supporting competitive procurement requirements, and ensuring the timely and accurate processing of purchase orders and related transactions. The Purchasing Coordinator works closely with the campus departments to ensure purchases are made in accordance with Texas Education Code, state purchasing laws, and College policies and procedures, while promoting efficiency, transparency, and stewardship of College resources. Coordinate purchasing activities, including requisitions, purchase orders, and related documentation Review purchasing requests for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with College policies and state procurement requirements Assist departments with procurement planning, vendor selection, and appropriate purchasing methods Support competitive procurement processes, including informal bids, formal solicitations, and documentation retention Maintain purchasing files, contracts, and vendor documentation in accordance with record retention requirements Serve as the primary point of contact for departments regarding purchasing procedures and requirements Assist with vendor setup and ensure W-9’s are completed and retained Assist with audit requests related to purchasing and procurement activities Participate in procedural updates, training, and process improvements Perform additional duties as assigned QualificationsRequired Qualifications: Associate’s degree or equivalent in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered Minimum of two years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or related administrative or accounting support role Working knowledge of purchasing processes and documentation Excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, and financial software Strong written and verbal communication skills High attention to detail and accuracy Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College’s insurance policy Preferred Qualifications: Experience in higher education, governmental, or nonprofit purchasing Knowledge of Texas purchasing laws, Texas Education Code, and state procurement requirements Experience with cooperative purchasing programs and bidding requirements Physical Demands: Must be able to lift or move up to 25 pounds Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time Use of manual dexterity Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation The person in this position frequently communicates with others verbally and electronically; must be able to exchange accurate information Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus Travel for training, meetings, and events both in and out of town may be required
