Job Description:

This Environmental Tech position supports the Environmental Department across air quality compliance, emissions reporting, spill remediation, and regulatory data management in Texas and New Mexico. The ideal candidate understands environmental regulations for upstream oil and gas operations and has strong data management skills.

General Responsibilities

  • Collect, organize, and validate site-level operational data (throughput, fuel use, equipment runtime, flare volumes) to support air permit compliance and annual emissions inventory submittals to NMED and TCEQ

  • Support annual GHG reporting under 40 CFR Part 98 (Subpart W) and maintain the data infrastructure for NSPS OOOOa/OOOOb compliance, working with operations to close data gaps ahead of deadlines

  • Maintain compliance data for New Mexico's ozone precursor (NOx/VOC) regulations, tracking permit conditions, emissions records, and regulatory deadlines

  • Support compliance at sites under EPA Consent Decrees and CAFOs, maintaining organized records and assisting with required submittals to EPA and state agencies on schedule

  • Maintain facility chemical inventory records and manage timely annual Tier II reporting for Texas and New Mexico

  • Track active spill remediation sites, monitor remediation plan milestones, and ensure timely reports and submittals to state agencies

  • Ad hoc duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or 4 years of relevant experience

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail

  • Self-motivated and able to quickly learn new subject matter

  • Superior ability to prioritize activities and meet all deadlines

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to read and interpret NM and TX environmental regulations and translate requirements into structured data collection and reporting plans

  • Able to make decisions quickly but also to seek guidance when appropriate

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience with NMED or TCEQ air permitting, emissions inventory, or spill remediation programs

  • Familiarity with NSPS OOOOa/OOOOb equipment-level recordkeeping and reporting requirements, GHG 40 CFR Part 98 Subpart W reporting, or EPCRA Tier II obligations

  • Experience with data management platforms, Visualization tools, AI prompt engineering

  • Experience managing compliance databases or environmental data management systems supporting multi-program regulatory reporting
