Responsibilities
(20%)* Performs radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures utilizing accurate application of ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis.  (20%)* Positions patient and equipment appropriately to accurately demonstrate the area being examined, requiring extensive anatomic positioning skills.  (20%)* Provides appropriate radiation protection for patient and staff during radiation exposures according to prescribed safety standards.  (20%)* Adjusts technical factors to provide appropriate exposure by use of independent judgment, knowledge of human anatomy, effect of disease on the radiograph and the principles of radiation as well as the specific operation of all radiologic equipment within the department.  (20%)* Ensure appropriate staffing and equipment are available for all OR cases. Give clear, direct instructions to the Radiology staff to utilize resources effectively within the operating room and outpatient services.  OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists radiologist as needed in performance of sterile procedures, i.e., biopsies, myelograms, etc.  Can operate all equipment within the OR and confidently train new staff.  Performs surgical and portable radiographic procedures as assigned.  Performs QC on all radiology equipment located in the OR per manufactures expectation. Must be available to trouble shoot unexpected issues.  Performs nursing procedures, including the preparation and administration of various forms of radiologic contrast media and  Handle day to day conflicts with OR rooms, equipment, staffing, physicians and the OR coordinator. and improve efficiency among departments. Â Has knowledge to readily identify and treat allergic reactions to contrast media. Â Practices sterile technique. Maintains professional acumen through active association with professional organizations. Â Shows evidence of continuing education in radiography as necessary to remain current with profession. Â Attends in service educational programs and departmental meetings. Â Initiates requisitions, adds or modifies charges, acknowledges exams, requiring the use of the computer. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS: One (1) year clinical experience is preferred. Â Knowledge of Radiology Information System (RIS) and HIS preferred. Â PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death. Â Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position. Â Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description. Â Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s). Â Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching. Â Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required. Â Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake. Â Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis. Â |
