Scope
Main Functions
Technicians are assigned to perform maintenance work. The technician may be an ExxonMobil employee or contractor resource and typically reports to a supervisor.
Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Estimate workloads and establish completion dates.
  • Assist mechanical engineers with the planning and testing of mechanical components, equipment and machinery, including engines, instruments, controls, robots and machines.
  • Help prepare proposals and cost estimates.
  • Actively participate in the use of all required on-the-job safety tools.
  • Review job packs.
  • Identify safety issues associated with each job and ensure they are removed or mitigated before beginning work.
  • Execute work as planned.
  • Record technical history as required by the workgroup, including Global Reliability Tool (GRT) records, data sheets and related documentation.
  • Provide feedback to the Execution FLS regarding job-pack improvements.
  • Request permits and notify the supervisor if a permit cannot be issued within 30 minutes of the requested time.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Discipline-appropriate certification, if applicable, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly and concisely describe field conditions and recommend remediation steps.
  • Effective team player who can work with individuals over whom they have no direct authority and is willing to assist others.
  • Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads and frequent changes in priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
