Job Description:

Permian Resources (NYSE: PR) is currently seeking Planning Engineer reporting to Integrated Operations Planning Manager in Midland, Texas. This position supports and maintains the drill and frac schedule across the company’s asset portfolio, integrating reservoir engineering, drilling and completions engineering, production and facilities engineering, midstream and marketing, and capital planning to maximize development value. The ideal candidate has strong technical and communication skills and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. 

General Responsibilities 

  • Work with cross-functional teams to generate and optimize the company’s drill and completion schedule 

  • Coordinate with operations, budgeting and planning, subsurface, land, midstream and marketing and regulatory teams to ensure timely and efficient execution of the capital program 

  • Provide technical support of the development plan to ensure execution stays on track while identifying efficiency improvement opportunities 

  • Drive continuous improvement in planning workflows, incorporating new data and technology to enhance planning accuracy and communication 

  • Provide technical support on scenario analysis to evaluate different capital programs based on ever-changing constraints, targets, and economic environments 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelors of Science in Engineering 

  • 5+ years of petroleum engineering experience in upstream oil & gas

  • Experience with Databricks or similar data platforms (SQL, Python) to build and maintain planning dashboards and analytics; familiarity with BI/visualization tools (Spotfire, Power BI, or similar) 

  • Proficiency with planning software (Actenum DSO, Enersight, Aries, PHDwin, etc.) 

  • Experience applying AI/LLM tools to streamline planning, scheduling, or data analysis workflows is a plus 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of multi-discipline processes and workflows 

  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to critically think through downstream/upstream impacts of complex scenarios 

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate cross functionally 

  • Experience in regulatory environments in New Mexico and Texas a plus

Preferred Qualifications 

  • 5+ years of petroleum engineering within operations (production, completion, drilling, facility)
