Shift Operator – Diesel Power Plant
Position Summary
PRISMECS is seeking experienced Shift Operators to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a diesel power generation facility in the Odessa/Midland, Texas area.
The Shift Operator will be responsible for monitoring and operating diesel generators, medium-voltage electrical equipment, transformers, and auxiliary plant systems. The successful candidate must be comfortable working rotating 12-hour shifts and responding to alarms, abnormal operating conditions, and changing plant load requirements.
This position requires previous diesel engine power plant or generator plant operating experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor diesel generators and associated power generation equipment.
- Monitor medium-voltage switchgear, breakers, transformers, and auxiliary systems.
- Perform plant startup and shutdown activities in accordance with approved operating procedures.
- Support generator synchronization, paralleling, and load transfer activities.
- Continuously monitor plant operating parameters and equipment conditions.
- Conduct routine plant rounds and equipment inspections.
- Record generator and plant operating parameters accurately.
- Identify abnormal operating conditions and respond appropriately to alarms.
- Perform first-line troubleshooting of operational issues and escalate technical problems when required.
- Coordinate with the Site O&M Lead and maintenance personnel during equipment issues and maintenance activities.
- Complete shift logs, operational reports, equipment checklists, and required permit documentation.
- Support equipment isolation, LOTO, and permit-to-work activities as required.
- Maintain clear and accurate shift handovers.
- Maintain good housekeeping and safe working conditions throughout the facility.
- Follow all site HSE requirements, operating procedures, and company policies.
- Support emergency response activities as directed by site leadership.

Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience operating diesel engine power plants, diesel generator facilities, or comparable power generation equipment.
- Experience operating and monitoring diesel generators.
- Working knowledge of medium-voltage electrical systems, switchgear, transformers, and generator electrical systems.
- Experience with generator startup, shutdown, synchronization, and load transfer activities.
- Ability to identify abnormal operating conditions and perform first-line troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with plant operating logs, shift reports, and equipment inspections.
- Understanding of LOTO, permit-to-work, and power-plant safety practices.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document plant conditions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of an operations and maintenance team.
- Must be available to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Must be able to work on-site in the Odessa/Midland, Texas area.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Local West Texas candidates are strongly preferred. This urgent U.S. project is not currently offering employment sponsorship.
