Job Summary
Location: Midlothian, TexasMedline is seeking a Director of Operations to lead our new distribution center in Midlothian, Texas. This leader will have the opportunity to help establish the site’s team, operating culture and performance standards while building a safe, efficient and customer-focused operation.
The Director of Operations will provide overall leadership for the distribution center, with responsibility for order fulfillment, inventory management, workforce planning, safety, service, cost and operational performance. This role requires a hands-on leader who is comfortable working across all levels of the organization—from developing managers and supervisors to spending time on the floor with frontline team members.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
Ensure order fulfillment and production are completed. Plan, lead and measure all daily processes.Â
Plan, lead and manage all human resource processes at the local facility. This includes staffing, performance management, compensation administration and training and development.Â
Ensure efficient utilization and proper return. Manage all capital assigned to the distribution center.Â
Ensure material is received and moved correctly. Oversee and monitor all aspects of inventory management.Â
Support contract negotiations for new business. Provide timely responses to service failures and customer concerns. Visit key accounts.
Ensure safe practices are in place and followed. Monitor activities of the work team. Ensure housekeeping guidelines are followed.Â
Oversee the maintenance of warehouse equipment and private truck fleet.
Key Responsibilities
Provide overall leadership for daily distribution center operations, ensuring customer orders are fulfilled safely, accurately and on time.
Help prepare the new Midlothian facility for a successful operational launch and continued growth.
Build, develop and lead a high-performing operations team, including managers, supervisors, support personnel and warehouse team members.
Establish clear expectations, operating routines and accountability across the facility.
Lead workforce planning, staffing, performance management, training and employee development.
Monitor operational performance and use data to improve productivity, service, quality, inventory accuracy and cost.
Oversee the receipt, storage and movement of inventory throughout the facility.
Ensure effective utilization of labor, equipment and other resources.
Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements and housekeeping standards.
Oversee the maintenance and reliability of warehouse equipment and the site’s private fleet.
Partner with sales, transportation, supply chain and other internal teams to support customers and business growth.
Respond quickly to service issues and customer concerns, including visiting key customer accounts when appropriate.
Support contract discussions and operational planning for new business.
Manage assigned capital and operating expenses responsibly.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
At least 10 years of experience within a distribution center, warehouse, fulfillment or similarly complex operations environment.
At least five years of leadership experience, including responsibility for selecting, developing and managing supervisors, support personnel and frontline employees.
Demonstrated success leading large teams and driving improvements in safety, service, productivity, quality and cost.
Strong operational judgment and the ability to balance immediate execution with longer-term planning.
Ability to communicate effectively with frontline employees, senior leaders, customers and cross-functional partners.
Willingness to travel up to 20% for business purposes.
Flexibility to work across shifts and occasional weekends based on operational needs.
Ability to work in warehouse environments with temperatures ranging from approximately 32°F to 95°F.
Ability to stand or walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds when needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience opening, launching, expanding or significantly ramping a distribution center.
Experience hiring and building a new operations organization.
Experience implementing operational processes, performance metrics and continuous-improvement practices.
Experience leading a private fleet or partnering closely with transportation operations.
Experience in healthcare, medical products, pharmaceutical, regulated or high-volume distribution.
Experience with warehouse management systems, automation and Lean or continuous-improvement methodologies.

The anticipated salary range for this position:
$154,000.00 - $231,000.00 AnnualThe actual salary will vary based on applicant’s location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. This role is bonus and/or incentive eligible. Medline will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage or salary threshold.
