Job DetailsJob Location: Midway University - Midway, KY 40347Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: 4 Year DegreeHead Coach, Softball Midway University, located 14 miles outside Lexington, KY, is seeking an energetic full-time Head Coach to lead a program committed to academic excellence, student-athlete development and competitive growth. This is a full-time, 12-month position that reports to the Vice President of Athletics and Student Affairs. The head coach will provide leadership in the planning, operation and execution of the program.   Key responsibilities include the following: Recruiting to achieve roster goals, competitive success, and academic performance in accordance with admissions procedures and scholarship requirements.  Organizing, scheduling, and leading daily practice sessions, game plan preparation and strategy, competitions, and off-season training. Coordinating travel arrangements for away contests. Ensuring full compliance with Midway University, River States Conference and NAIA rules and regulations.  Guiding student athletes in their academic development and reinforcing expectations for discipline and sportsmanship. Hiring, supervising, and evaluating assistant coach and program volunteers. Budgeting, fundraising, promoting and marketing the program. Secondary roles will be assigned based on skill set and institutional need by the Vice-President of Athletics and Student Affairs. QualificationsQualifications: Bachelor’s degree required, master's preferred. Previous demonstrated coaching experience is required, with head or assistant collegiate level experience preferred. Candidates should have familiarity with and working knowledge of NAIA rules and a commitment to a strong compliance culture. This position will require evening and weekend work and the ability to travel for away games. The selected individual should possess excellent interpersonal and communications skills, initiative, the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, sound judgment, the ability to respond to emergency situations in a timely manner, a commitment to the academic and life skills development of student-athletes, the ability to maintain effective work relationships across campus, and previous experience with recruiting of student-athletes and management of coaches.   Review of applications will begin immediately, and the position will remain open until filled.
