The Rusty Rail Brewing Company is currently hiring servers and bartenders. We seek individuals who understand that servers and bartenders act as the face of a restaurant, influencing customer satisfaction and guaranteeing return visits. At the Rusty Rail, we are not interested in servers who like to give "good" service. We hire staff who strive to give every customer a truly unique experience that they can only find in our restaurant.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Take customers' food and drink orders
  • Collaborate with the kitchen and bar staff for prompt and correct delivery of orders
  • Learn the menu to be able to recommend appetizers, meals, weekly specials, and drinks (beer, wine, and cocktails)
  • Possess an understanding of key ingredients, especially those related to food allergies
  • Deliver a memorable dining experience by being exceptionally hospitable, friendly, and knowledgeable
  • Resolve all customer issues promptly by being attentive and informing management
  • Tidy tables, clear plates, and keep the dining area neat during service
  • Ensure section is cleaned and organized after closing
  • Handle tasks unsupervised, including being able to spot tasks that need to be done, even ones that might not have been assigned by managers
  • Handle money accurately and honestly, using the point-of-sale system (Toast)
  • Communicate well with coworkers and customers, and maintain personable and professional communication at all times
  • Maintain a positive attitude, even under pressure-patience with customers and coworkers is a must, particularly during busy rushes
  • Listen to customer feedback and relay suggestions to managers

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or associate degree in culinary studies or food and hospitality management
  • Prior restaurant experience a plus, especially in a casual fine dining atmosphere
  • Knowledge of beer, wine, cocktails, and different types of cuisines
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of point-of-sale systems or willingness to learn
  • High level of stamina to work on feet for extended periods and carry up to 50 lbs.
