Transportation & Safety Coordinator

Part-Time (Full-Time Potential)

Pay: $20–24/hour (based on experience)

 

Position Summary

Kids First TOO in Milford is looking for a dependable, organized, and safety-minded Transportation & Safety Coordinator to oversee our transportation operations for The HIVE Before & After School Program.

This role is responsible for ensuring our buses are safe, clean, maintained, and operating efficiently while providing safe transportation for students each day. Beyond driving, this position plays an important role in keeping our vehicles and transportation systems running smoothly.

For the right person, this position has the opportunity to grow into a full-time leadership support role as our program continues to expand or if they are local with morning driving availability from 7:30-8:45am.

Responsibilities

Transportation

  • Safely transport children to and from local schools
  • Drive afternoon routes Monday–Friday (approximately 1:30–4:30 PM)
  • Opportunity to drive morning routes
  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections
  • Ensure all transportation safety procedures are followed
  • Maintain student attendance and transportation records
  • Communicate transportation updates with program leadership

Fleet Management

  • Keep buses clean inside and out
  • Monitor fuel levels and schedule fueling
  • Schedule preventative maintenance and repairs
  • Coordinate state inspections, registrations, licensing, and required documentation
  • Track maintenance records and vehicle service history
  • Identify issues before they become larger problems

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain transportation records and documentation
  • Organize inspection schedules and compliance paperwork
  • Track maintenance expenses
  • Assist leadership with transportation planning and logistics
  • Support operational projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age with valid driver's license with clean driving record
  • Ability to meet requirements for transporting children
  • Experience driving 15 passenger vehicles preferred (training available)
  • Basic maintenance or mechanical experience preferred
  • Pass background check and all licensing requirements

Schedule

Typical Schedule:

  • Afternoon Transportation: Monday–Friday, approximately 1:30 PM–4:30 PM
  • Additional morning driving opportunities available
  • Administrative, maintenance, and facility responsibilities completed outside transportation hours

Approximate Hours:

  • 20–35 hours per week
