About the Role:
Bay Area Learning Academy is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Afterschool Center Lead Teacher to guide and inspire 3rd–5th grade students in our Millbrae, CA location. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of elementary-aged children in a fun, structured afterschool environment. Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a classroom of 3rd–5th grade students in a dynamic afterschool setting
- Plan and implement engaging academic support activities, homework help, and enrichment programs
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment for all students
- Supervise and mentor assistant teachers, tutors, or interns
- Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and program coordinators regarding student progress
- Manage classroom behavior using positive reinforcement strategies
- Ensure student safety and well-being throughout all program activities
Requirements:
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience working with elementary-aged children in an educational setting
- Strong classroom management and leadership skills
- Ability to create engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans and activities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents, and staff
- Must pass a background check and meet California childcare compliance requirements
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain
