POSITION SUMMARY: Provides direct and indirect patient care on the Med-Surgical floor. Delivers care that meets the psychosocial, physical, and general aspects of patient needs. Communicates effectively with patients, families, and physicians regarding patient status, symptomatology, and diagnostic results. Demonstrates initiative, professional responsibility, and sound clinical judgement under the supervision of a registered nurse. Determines priorities of care based on patient needs and factors affecting patient flow. Responds quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition or response to treatment.


The following represents the essential functions of this position. Other duties may be required as needed.

  • Provides direct and indirect patient care in accordance with established standards.
  • Assesses patient condition and identifies care needs.
  • Prioritizes patient care based on physical and psychosocial needs.
  • Communicates patient status and changes to physicians and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Clinical Leadership & Shift Oversight
  • Supervise nursing operations during assigned shifts
  • Assign patient care based on acuity, staff skill level, and unit needs
  • Serve as a clinical resource and decision-maker for staff
  • Ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care delivery
  • Staff Support & Leadership
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and support to nursing staff
  • Assist with onboarding and orientation of new employees
  • Reinforce education related to new policies or clinical updates
  • Address performance or workflow issues during shifts as appropriate
  • Patient & Family Relations
  • Address patient and family concerns or complaints
  • Support communication during difficult or complex care situations
  • Promote patient satisfaction and therapeutic relationships
  • Administrative & Reporting Duties
  • Provide clear shift reports and handoff communication
  • Document incidents, staffing issues, and significant events as required
  • Communicate operational concerns to nursing leadership
  • Interprets and responds to diagnostic results and patient symptoms.
  • Documents patient care accurately and timely.
  • Ensures continuity of care through effective communication and coordination.
  • Supervises and supports nursing staff as assigned.
  • Maintains compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Participates in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
  • Responds appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and rights at all times.

Requirements

 To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Graduate of an accredited RN program
  • Current RN license in the state of Georgia
  • Current BLS certification
  • ACLS certification (or obtained within 3 months of employment)
  • PALS certification (or obtained withing 6 months of employment, if applicable)
  • Minimum of one (1) year of RN experience in acute care setting preferred.
  • CPI training to be completed within 6 months of hire

 Experience:

  • Emergency room: 1 year (Required)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and assist patients as needed
  • Manual dexterity and coordination required
