Job Overview

We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Adult Community Speech and Language Therapist to join a community-based service in the North East. This role involves working with adults presenting with a range of communication and swallowing difficulties, with a particular focus on dysphagia management.

You will work across community settings, supporting individuals to maintain safe swallowing, effective communication, and independence within their own homes and local environments. This position is suitable for an experienced Band 6 or Band 7 therapist who is dysphagia trained and confident managing an adult community caseload.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Assess, diagnose, and manage adults with communication and swallowing difficulties, including dysphagia, in community settings.

  • Complete dysphagia assessments and develop safe, evidence-based management plans.

  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including nurses, dietitians, GPs, and other allied health professionals.

  • Provide advice, training, and support to patients, families, and carers.

  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with professional and organisational standards.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).

  • HCPC registration and eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).

  • Dysphagia training and experience managing adult swallowing disorders.

  • Experience working in adult community services at Band 6 or Band 7 level.

  • Excellent clinical reasoning, communication, and organisational skills.
