Position Summary

The Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) Manager is responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment for all Austin Engineering USA Inc. employees, contractors, and visitors. This role provides leadership in safety compliance, risk management, training, incident investigation, and regulatory reporting within a manufacturing environment. The SHE Manager works closely with operations, HR, and leadership to proactively identify hazards, implement corrective actions, and foster a strong safety culture.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned.

  • Anticipate, identify, and assess workplace safety hazards and risks using established risk management tools, including risk matrices
  • Partner with the Plant Manager, Supervisors, and Leads to address employee safety concerns and implement effective solutions
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve safety policies, procedures, programs, and guidelines in compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulations
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-miss events; determine root cause; implement corrective actions; and ensure all required documentation and reporting are completed accurately and timely
  • Conduct safety orientation for new hires and contract employees
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs, including presentations, documentation, and supporting materials
  • Promote safety awareness and education across all levels of the organization
  • Create schedules for safety team members and ensure tasks are completed on time
  • Delegate workload efficiently and monitor performance
  • Approve weekly timecards and time-off requests
  • Collaborate closely with Human Resources on workers’ compensation claims, reporting, and related matters
  • Ensure compliance with Wyoming Workers’ Compensation requirements and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations
  • Perform related duties as required

Required Qualifications

  • Proven leadership ability with strong organizational and communication skills
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a production, manufacturing, or construction environment
  • Prior experience as a Safety Manager, Safety Supervisor, or in a similar role preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, Wyoming Workers’ Compensation, and other regulatory reporting requirements applicable to manufacturing
  • Ability and willingness to work days, nights, and/or weekends as business needs require
  • Knowledge of welding and fabrication processes preferred

  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out written, oral, or diagram-based instructions

Physical & Work Environment

  • Ability to perform job duties in environmental conditions applicable to a manufacturing worksite
  • Physical activities required to perform essential job functions may include standing, walking, bending, lifting, and working in industrial environments
