Primary Purpose

This position will provide scheduled and ad-hoc analysis to support the team and help ensure accurate financial information for our Agri-Business operations. This role will focus on collecting data, entering information into reports, checking for obvious errors and assisting with routine tasks related to customer support, growth activities and system implementations. It will help identify basic variances or issues and pass them along to senior team members for review. By completing foundational accounting and reporting tasks, this position supports smooth daily operations and reliable financial processes.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Prepare and analyze variances from scheduled internal reports and Agri Stats data, identifying key differences and noting potential areas where performance or processes may be improved. Review underlying details to ensure accuracy, document notable trends and escalate findings that may indicate operations or financial improvement opportunities.
  2. Provide back-up support to Accounting management by assisting with routine tasks, preparing basic reports and helping maintain accuracy in day-to-day processes when additional coverage is needed. This includes stepping in during peak periods, absences or special projects to ensure continuity of workflow and timely completion of essential accounting activities.
  3. Prepare ad-hoc reports as needed by gathering data, organizing information and creating basic summaries or analyses to support Accounting management and operational teams. Ensure reports are accurate, clearly formatted and delivered within required timeframes to assist with decision-making or special requests.
  4. Assist and support audit initiatives by gathering requested documents, organizing supporting materials and helping ensure financial data is accurate and accessible for internal and external auditors. Provide basic follow-up or clarification as needed to help maintain compliance and support an efficient audit process.
  5. Complete month-end close functions within assigned area(s) by preparing routine entries, updating schedules and ensuring supporting documentation is accurate and submitted on time. Assist the team by verifying data, reconciling accounts and helping maintain an organized and timely close process.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 2 or more years’ relevant accounting or data-focused experience, preferably in the poultry industry or a similar production-based environment involving inventory, costing or operational data.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Ability to analyze variances and identify data issues.
  • Comfortable working with large data sets and maintaining accuracy.
  • Familiarity with ERP or accounting software.
  • Experience with agri-business or manufacturing data, exposure to BI/reporting tools and understanding of standard cost vs. actual cost concepts preferred.
