Primary Purpose
This internship provides an opportunity to gain practical sales and business experience while contributing to impactful projects at Mountaire Farms. The focus of this project is to improve upon or establish a new process for evaluating and ranking current external customers using sales metrics such as pricing performance versus established premiums and sales volume versus contracted volume. Information gathered will be used to help identify which customers should be considered strategic partners for future growth and which are more transactional in nature. Additional assignments will include managing daily market pricing data and communicating this information to the sales team, giving the intern a well-rounded understanding of how data-driven insights support customer relationships and business decisions.
Project Highlights
- Work/Meet with representatives from other departments across the organization.
- Review current account rankings, system, information and understand where we are and where the goal is to get to.
- Spend time in various departments to understand the business and apply this information to this project.
- Participate in numerous meetings with other team members to calculate the percentages we should weigh each item for the total customer evaluation.
- Analyze data and make recommendations on systems and ranking changes.
- Manage this project as if you were the one using it to sell for Mountaire.
- Spend time learning about the ranking process, procedures, in other parts of our business.
- Presentation of project scope and findings at the end of the summer to Sales and corporate Management
Qualifications
- Must be currently enrolled and pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university
- Valid Driver's license
- Must pass the Mountaire Motor Vehicle Record check
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel
- Analytical mindset with the ability to work with numbers and interpret data
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, charts, formulas); knowledge of other Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint) a plus
- Communication skills, both written and verbal
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Professional attitude and commitment to confidentiality when handling sensitive sales information
- Willingness to learn about poultry sales, customer relations, and supply chain dynamics
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Internship Program Requirements
- Complete assigned project identified by department mentor
- Attend weekly seminar series across different Mountaire facilities
- Other duties as assigned
- All interns must be available to travel to Delaware during the last week of the program for final presentations (August 3 to 7, 2026)
- All interns are required to complete a 10-minute presentation on their project at the conclusion of summer. Presentations will take place in Millsboro, DE at the Administrative Building during the week of August 3-7th.
- Anticipated weekly schedule for this internship is: 7:30am - 4:30pm
