Primary Purpose

Will serve as a recognized Strategic Sourcing Category - Energy subject matter expert (SME), overseeing direct and indirect spend. With responsibility for spend oversight ranging from $135M to $265M, they will contribute to achieving team annual savings. Leading sourcing negotiation strategies and collaborating cross-functionally to align stakeholders and business units.  

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Lead strategic sourcing and contract negotiation for propane, natural gas, diesel, electricity, and other energy commodities, optimizing total cost of ownership while ensuring supply continuity.
  2. Develop and execute energy procurement strategies using market intelligence, price forecasting, hedging principles, and supplier risk assessments to minimize cost volatility and operational risk.
  3. Manage supplier relationships, RFP, contract renewals, and performance metrics for energy providers, ensuring compliance with commercial terms, regulatory requirements, and sustainability objectives.
  4. Partner with operations, finance, and facilities teams to forecast energy demand, identify cost-saving opportunities, and improve energy procurement efficiency across multiple sites.
  5. Will analyze huge data sets, identify trends and market gaps from the data, implement strategic goals in line with the organization's goals, strategically source, create a category plan and oversee the specific category. 
  6. Provides daily, weekly and monthly analyses to business partners and senior leadership. Communicates with business partners on key objectives, improvement projects at advanced customer service levels, improves product flows and minimizes supply.
  7. Works with the Legal team on contract revisions and approvals.
  8. Directs and enforces all safety policies and standards.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in a relevant field or a minimum of 4 years' relevant procurement and negotiation experience.
  • 3 - 5 years' relevant work experience.
  • Project management and contract knowledge/experience.
  • Analytics and data management.
  • SQL, Access, Excel, Oracle, SAP and/or other ERP software knowledge and experience.
  • Responsibility for spend oversight ranging from $135M to $265M across multiple categories.
  • Travel is required as part of the job to facilitate direct engagement and interaction with our suppliers, allowing for a deeper understanding of their operations, processes, and capabilities.
  • Managing projects and trials at Company facilities.
  • Attending relevant expos or shows is pertinent to this role to provide opportunities for professional development and industry insight.
