POSITIONĀ SUMMARY:

Ā 

TheĀ ProductionĀ AssemblerĀ isĀ responsibleĀ forĀ performingĀ allĀ tasksĀ involvedĀ inĀ theĀ productionĀ ofĀ aluminumĀ trailers. ThisĀ includesĀ measuring, cutting,Ā andĀ drillingĀ ofĀ aluminum,Ā plywood,Ā andĀ skins.Ā AllĀ Production workers areĀ expected toĀ beĀ available toĀ workĀ inĀ allĀ areasĀ ofĀ Production. Position offers job training. Training may include shop print reading, light assembly, and aluminum welding. Job requirements are close to residential and commercial carpentry and construction trade type of work and require some mechanical aptitude, good hand-eye coordination, while using diverse types of shop equipment and cordless power hand tools.

FUNCTIONSĀ ANDĀ RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assembles different facets of a trailer, including but not limited to interior trim, fenders, rough or finished wiring, and framing, following the work order. Balances productivity with quality and safety.

  • Reads and followsĀ blueprintsĀ and workĀ orders,Ā ensuringĀ a qualityĀ productĀ thatĀ meets customerĀ demands; performs workĀ as assigned byĀ theĀ line supervisor.

  • Obtains rawĀ materialsĀ fromĀ Material Handlers.Ā CutĀ materialĀ inĀ accordanceĀ with specificationsĀ onĀ theĀ cut list.

  • NotifiesĀ supervisorĀ of anyĀ mechanicalĀ orĀ materialĀ issues,Ā including but notĀ limitedĀ toĀ defectsĀ inĀ material, damageĀ toĀ theĀ trailer, and deviations fromĀ workĀ order.

  • Ensures thatĀ the finished productĀ meets quality expectations.Ā StrivesĀ forĀ the highestĀ level of qualityĀ and understands the needĀ for continuousĀ improvement;Ā supportsĀ theĀ conceptĀ ofĀ ā€œgoodĀ enoughĀ is never goodĀ enough.ā€

  • Maintains a clean and safe work area; works to reduce scrap, returns unused materials to the proper area, and disposes of waste properly.

  • Follows all safety procedures, wears protectiveĀ equipmentĀ (PPE), andĀ reportsĀ any accidentsĀ orĀ near missesĀ toĀ the supervisor immediately.

  • PerformsĀ otherĀ related dutiesĀ andĀ assignmentsĀ as required.

DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum: hands-on experience working with a variety of power tools

  • Previous experience working in manufacturing or construction is helpful; however, on-the-job training may be provided.

  • Must be able to work quickly without sacrificing quality or safety.

  • Must have a keen understanding of manufacturing processes.

  • Must be able to measure and cut accurately.

  • Ability to read blueprints and work orders accurately.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong time management and organizational abilities.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Standing – up to 100%

  • Walking – up to 50%

  • Pushing and pulling – up to fifty pounds occasionally

  • Lifting – approximately 55% during the shift

    • 5-25 pounds constantly

    • Fifty pounds frequently

    • 100 pounds occasionally as a team lift

  • Bending – up to 30%

  • Climbing ladders – approximately 10%

  • Crouching – up to 40%

  • Kneeling – Limited

  • Sight with the ability to distinguish cut lines.

  • Above average coordination, including eye-hand, hand-foot, and balance.

  • Normal dexterity of hands and fingers with average repetition

Currently Working OT Fridays 7:00am until production is met, usually until 12:00pm
