We Are Looking For

Advanced Systems Group LLC is seeking an experienced Live Support Technician (LST) to support a live monitoring and observability facility in Los Gatos, CA. The LST is a technically proficient and detail-oriented team member responsible for maintaining the reliability, readiness, and performance of critical broadcast systems in a fast-paced live environment. This role operates across 2 distinct modes: structured facility maintenance and training during non-event periods, and hands-on live technical support during active programming. The LST works closely with internal engineering teams and external partners to ensure seamless operations across simultaneous live events.

This position is part of our Flex Workforce. As a Flex team member, you will work on a project-to-project basis supporting leading media and technology clients. Flex roles are ongoing and dynamic. Work may vary in cadence, length, and scope depending on client needs. This setup offers flexibility, exposure to top-tier companies, and the opportunity to grow your skills across multiple exciting assignments.

Estimated schedule: 2 to 4 days per month for facility maintenance and training on a flexible, rotating basis. Schedule scales significantly during live programming events and can reach up to 5 days a week with varying shifts, including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

Live Facility Support

  • Provide hands-on technical support for live broadcasts operating out of the Live Command Center (LCC)

  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot critical systems, including QSYS room controls, Dante audio infrastructure, SRT encoders and decoders, HDMI switchers, multiviewers, Wohler audio monitors, TAG Video multiviewers, and intercom systems

  • Configure and support consumer devices, including Apple TV, Google TV, Fire TV Stick, and Roku

  • Serve as a first-line responder to technical issues during live events, escalating as necessary to engineering teams

  • Support the setup, execution, and breakdown of live shows including simultaneous broadcasts with unique technical requirements

Facility Maintenance and Training

  • Perform scheduled rack and stack of hardware

  • Conduct routine sweeps and tests of operator desk functionality

  • Execute system firmware upgrades as needed

  • Test DR and backup SOPs and workstreams

  • Train operators on desk functionality and system operation

  • Test and update consumer devices on a regular basis

  • Perform quarterly calibration of broadcast monitors (TVLogic)

  • Maintain ongoing familiarization with all facility spaces and systems

Documentation and Workflow Management

  • Create, maintain, and update SOPs, technical drawings, and system documentation for LCC broadcast systems

  • Ensure all documentation is accurate, current, and easily accessible to operational and engineering teams

  • Prepare and verify required configurations in advance of live events, including monitor routing and signal paths

  • Document issues, resolutions, and system changes to support continuous improvement

Coordination and Communication

  • Work closely with LCC Ops Leads and operations partners to coordinate daily signal paths, routing, and system readiness

  • Act as a liaison between operations, engineering, and production teams to ensure clear communication and alignment

  • Provide concise and professional communication during live operations including high-pressure situations

  • Participate in shift handoffs and ensure continuity by clearly documenting system status and outstanding issues

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in broadcast operations, live production support, or a broadcast engineering environment

  • Strong working knowledge of live broadcast signal flow and technical infrastructure

  • Hands-on experience with QSYS room controls, Dante audio infrastructure, and SRT encoders and decoders

  • Experience with HDMI switchers, multiviewer systems, Wohler audio monitors, and TAG Video multiviewers

  • Experience configuring and supporting consumer devices, including Apple TV, Google TV, Fire TV Stick, and Roku

  • Familiarity with intercom systems and associated broadcast infrastructure

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot technical issues quickly and effectively in live environments

  • Strong documentation skills with experience creating SOPs and technical diagrams

  • Comfortable performing structured facility maintenance and hardware tasks in addition to live event support

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and extended shifts as required by live programming schedules

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience calibrating TVLogic broadcast monitors

  • Background in DR and backup SOP testing in a live broadcast environment

  • Experience training operators on broadcast desk systems and workflows

  • Familiarity with streaming or OTT platform environments

Compensation:

This project-based role offers an hourly pay rate of $70 - $85/hr, depending on experience.
