This position is focused on developing a practical understanding of customer applications, supporting near-term customer opportunities, and identifying product and solution opportunities for future growth.

This role will support the Director of Systems Engineering and work with internal customers such as field applications engineers, product managers, vertical market managers, sales, marketing, and design engineering teams. The position is structured as a hands-on technical leadership role. No direct reports are expected initially, although the role will require leading cross-functional work through influence.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Translate customer application needs into system-level requirements, use cases, reference architectures, and product opportunity inputs.
  • Support customer and FAE technical discussions by explaining application problems, product fit, and technical tradeoffs in a clear and practical way.
  • Initiate and support teardowns, competitive reviews, technical analysis, and experimental work to validate customer use cases for existing and proposed Littelfuse products.
  • Lead or coordinate system-level validation activity, including test planning, application testing, performance review, results documentation, and follow-up actions.
  • Work with product management and engineering to identify product gaps, roadmap inputs, and application requirements in target growth markets such as data centers, industrial power, building automation, aerospace and defense, and energy infrastructure.
  • Develop application notes, reference designs, training material, technical presentations, white papers, and other customer-facing or sales-enablement content.
  • Support sales and field application engineering teams on opportunity qualification, design-in support, technical problem solving, and customer preparation.
  • Operate effectively in a matrix organization and influence teams without direct authority.
  • Travel to company locations, customer meetings, technical reviews, and industry events as needed, with anticipated travel up to approximately 25%.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline is required; M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Systems Engineering, Physics, or related field is preferred.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in systems or application engineering, electronics product design engineering, electrical systems, or related technical roles.
  • Hands-on system-level development, integration, validation, testing, or troubleshooting experience is required.
  • Experience with power electronics, circuit protection, switching, data center power, industrial electrical systems, aerospace/defense, or energy infrastructure applications is preferred.
  • Demonstrated customer-facing or internal-customer-facing technical experience, such as applications engineering, technical marketing, product engineering, or strategic technical support.
  • Ability to connect customer application requirements to product requirements, technical validation work, and practical business recommendations.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, including the ability to explain unfamiliar technical problems to internal and external customers.
  • Experience working in cross-functional and matrixed organizations is required.
  • Multi-disciplinary and multi-industry experience is highly desired.
