The Role
As an ELA Content Coach (ELA Teacher), you will serve as the primary instructional resource for our Graduation Candidates (GCs), delivering competency-based content, supporting personalized learning, and guiding students toward graduation and post-secondary success. You’ll work with a collaborative team to provide academic, social-emotional, and career-oriented support that empowers each learner’s journey. 


Key Responsibilities

Enrollment

  • Provide small-group instruction across multiple English and literacy courses
  • Progress monitor and support course completion, with CER metrics aligned to network goals
  • Maintain consistent student and family communication, including progress monitoring for at-risk learners
  • Support district and state test preparation
  • Monitor student online and onsite participation
  • Attend weekly team huddles to discuss student progress and social-emotional growth
  • Implement the district-wide intervention plan (progress learning), including reading intervention and writing workshops
  • Provide remediation and enrichment to address learning gaps and accelerate success
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed to support the academy's mission

Retention

  • Serve as an advisor for assigned GCs by maintaining communication with learners and their support team
  • Monitor attendance, academic progress, and overall wellness to ensure consistent engagement and achievement

Academics

  • Plan and deliver content-area instruction in both individual and small group settings
  • Monitor GC academic progress toward course completion and mastery using formative and summative assessments
  • Analyze and use academic data to inform instruction and improve outcomes
  • Provide remediation and enrichment opportunities to address learning gaps and accelerate success
  • Participate in professional development, data meetings, and school/community events

Advocacy

  • Collaborate with the GC support team to develop personalized learning pathways, transition strategies, and incentive plans
  • Represent the academy in community events and contribute to academy-wide initiatives
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed to support the academy’s mission


What We’re Looking For
Education: Bachelor’s degree required, Master's preferred
Licensure: Florida 6-12 secondary certification in English (REQUIRED)
Experience: Open to all experience levels; candidates with a passion for instructional coaching and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply
Skills: Strong communication, time management, instructional planning, and collaboration skills
Passion: A deep commitment to helping at-risk youth succeed academically and personally


Preferred Qualifications

  • Reading interventionist credentials
  • Experience working with IEP/504 students
  • ESOL experience
  • Exposure to students who have been involved with the juvenile justice system
  • Familiarity with G Suite and Focus
  • Experience in non-traditional or at-risk youth settings
