Summary:

Fabrication Lead is responsible for providing quality fabrication on-time with customer specifications. They will work closely with the team of welders and fabricators to complete all objectives and work through challenges in the most time and cost-effective manner.

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and oversee a team of fabricators, providing direction, support, and guidance to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to quality standards.
  • Responsible for training and onboarding new employees, ensuring they understand job responsibilities, processes, safety requirements, and quality standards.
  • Coordinates with welding, fabrication, and saw operation process by working closely with other departments.
  • Inspects weldment fit-up, assembly, and root/joint preparation prior to the welding process.
  • Responsible for in-process and final weld inspection for accuracy, finished weld size, appearance, and completeness per the customer’s specifications.
  • Ensures that stress, heat treat, and special process certifications from venders are accurate and complete.
  • Keeps raw stock kept to proper specifications.
  • Coordinates with Build Project Managers (BPM) and Quality Assurance departments to complete products to customer’s satisfaction.
  • Maintain inventory of various welding consumables, and work with purchasing to keep this inventory stocked
  • Operate and/or use forklifts, cranes, hoists, slings, grinders, cutting torches, hand tools, drills, punches, and instruments of measurements.
  • Job planning with Fabrication Manager and scheduling for their team members.
  • Oversees Sand Blasting area and lines up their jobs.
  • Able to cover for other shop personnel when out and assist in completion of a job.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Work Experience:

  • Five to ten years’ experience with MIG & TIG welding and fabrication processes preferred.
  • High School diploma or GED required, along with five to ten years experience with in related industry.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Enovia experience preferred.

 

Work Authorization/Security Clearance Requirements:

  • This position may require a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

  • Reads and understands blueprints, schematics, and/or measuring devices.
  • Follows processes and standard procedures.
