Job Duties:

Under the direction of a Food Service Manager, the Food Service Supervisor is directly responsible for managing the daily operations of residential dining units as assigned. Units have their own full-time Food Service Assistants, and are operated mostly by part-time student staff. All Full time and Part time staff report directly to the Team of Food Service Supervisors. Responsibilities include operating and maintaining units’ standards. These standards may include staff hiring, payroll, scheduling, supervision of training, inventory control, product quality, ordering, and sanitation. Evening and weekend hours will be required for this position.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to federal, state, campus, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Leads and provides exceptional customer service, answers questions, and provides information regarding food preparation, catering, and associated activities
  • Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas
  • Develops and schedules logistics and menus for daily and catering operations
  • Performs routine and non-routine food preparation activities including cook to order and specialty foods
  • Assigns and coordinates the day-to-day activities of food service staff

Compensation: $21-$24 per hour

Required Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years experience in a supervisory role in a food service environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience in a supervisory role in a food service environment
  • Experience working in a large volume operation, such as catering, university or similar – gross sales in excess of 1 million
  • Basic Food Prep Experience
  • Experience with staff training and employee scheduling
  • Two or more years experience with mentoring, counseling, and disciplining staff
  • Experience using POS to process payments
  • Knowledge of essential food service equipment
  • Certificate, or Technical Diploma or Associate’s Degree (or higher) in Hospitality, Culinary Arts, or related field
  • ServSafe certification, Food Handler, or Manager certification
