Description
The CNC Machine Setup & Programming Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and programming CNC machines, including mills, lathes, and routers, to produce precision parts that meet quality and safety standards. This role supports the Lead CNC Programmer/Operator and serves as a backup resource, requiring strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot machining and programming issues.
Key Responsibilities:
• Set up and operate CNC machines according to prints, setup sheets, and work instructionsÂ
• Install, adjust, and verify tooling, fixtures, and materials (ferrous and non-ferrous metals, wood, and plastic).Â
• Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs using G-code and/or CAM outputÂ
• Load, verify, and edit programs; adjust offsets, tooling, feeds, and speeds as neededÂ
• Support and back up the Lead CNC Programmer/Operator as requiredÂ
• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using precision measuring toolsÂ
• Troubleshoot machining, programming, or dimensional issues and implement correctionsÂ
• Monitor machines during production runs to maintain quality and consistencyÂ
• Document setups, programs, inspections, and production activityÂ
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environmentÂ
Requirements
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school preferredÂ
• CNC setup, operation, and programming experience requiredÂ
• Experience with Haas, Fanuc, or similar controlsÂ
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, setup sheets, and work instructionsÂ
• Working knowledge of G-code, tooling, feeds, speeds, and cutter selectionÂ
• Proficient with measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gaugesÂ
• Ability to work independently and as part of a teamÂ
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and safety-focused
• Experience proving out new jobs or taking parts from print to production preferred
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbsÂ
• Standing, bending, and reaching for extended periodsÂ
• Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment
